Area libraries offer great finds for all

The Muscogee County School District owns and operates the county’s public libraries. In 2001, however, the nine members of the elected school board appointed the a 26-member, semi-autonomous Muscogee County Library Board to broaden the library’s governance and give it more public input.

Residents of the following counties may get free library cards for use in the system: Muscogee, Harris, Chattahoochee, Clay, Marion, Quitman, Randolph, Stewart, Schley, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster in Georgia; Russell, Lee and Barbour in Alabama. Proof of address is required.

Active military personnel and their dependents assigned to Fort Benning also are eligible if they show proper military ID.
