Churches choose to celebrate the season with fall festivals

The following churches are having festivals in lieu of Halloween:

Trunk or treat: North Highland Assembly of God, 7300 Whittlesey Blvd., is having a Trunk or Treat Festival 5:30-8:30 p.m. today. Includes free candy, games and rides. Food will be available for purchase. Call 706-561-7777.

Fall festival: A Fall Festival is 6-8 p.m. today at Midway United Methodist Church, 4442 Buena Vista Road. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Includes free food, games and prizes. Call 706-561-1230.

Trunk-Treat and Eat:

Harvest Faith Community Church, 7777 Whitesville Road, will hold its annual Trunk-Treat & Eat 3-6 p.m. today. Includes games, food and door prizes. Free. Call 706-322-1447.

Fall Festival: A Fall Festival will be 5-7 p.m. today at Waldrop Memorial Baptist Church, 2308 Hilton Ave. Hotdog supper and all activities are free. Activities include trunk-ortreat, games, photos, crafts and a cake walk. A drawing for a Nintendo Wii system will be held at 6:30 p.m. Participants must be present to win. Call 706-323-4300.

Halloween alternative:

A “Hallelujah Party” is at 6 p.m. today at Fellowship Assembly, 619 Lee Road 243, Smiths Station. Includes food, games, prizes and a Bible costume contest. Additionally, Fellowship Assembly is having a missions convention at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Women from Teen Challenge will speak at the early service, and Chaplain Steve Walker of Bullock Correctional Facility at the second. Call 706-610-3435.

Trunk or Treat: A “Trunk or Treat” event for families is 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Ellerslie United Methodist Church, at the intersection of Ga. 85 and 315. Along with decorated car trunks, there will be games, inflatables, snacks and candy. See waverlyhallumc.org or call 706-582-2524.
