Gail S. Ingram, Member, Friendship Baptist Church, Hamilton, Ga.

How long have you been at Friendship? I have attended this church since I was a child and was baptized into the faith on Aug. 19, 1977. The Rev. Lacoya D. Day currently serves as pastor. The pastor when I was baptized was the Rev. O.C. Stiggers.

What did growing up in Hamilton teach you? It taught me family values and the love of friends. Everybody was real close.

What makes your church distinctive? A combination of different ministries with different talents and abilities working together for one common goal. We acknowledge the fact that we are sinners, but saved by the grace of God. We have church leaders who follow after the will of God. We are a church concerned with the ministry of Jesus Christ through the spreading of the Word of God. We follow after the direction of the Holy Spirit as he gives guidance and governance to the decisions that affect the ministry of Friendship Baptist Church. Because of God’s grace and mercy, we celebrated the 141st church anniversary in March.

What’s your proudest achievement? The proudest achievement in my life is being a follower after Jesus Christ. Another of my proudest achievements is serving my country in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves.

What do you do in your spare time? I like to shop. My weakness is Coach purses, and shoes. And I enjoy hanging out with my friends. We like to go to restaurants and the movies. … I like to do a lot with kids. I have nephews and go to their ball games. And at church we now have a children’s service and we rotate teaching the kids.

What’s your morning routine? Getting up around 5:45 and getting ready for work. I have to be at work at 7:45 and I work until 6:15.

Who’s in your family? My husband, Anthony, and my daughter, Nakia, who currently attends Columbus State University pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I’m the middle of three siblings. I have an older sister who works at the Fulton County Health Department. My brother works for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Where do you work? I have been employed the past 18 years with the State of Georgia through the Department of Driver Services working out of the Columbus and the LaGrange Customer Service Centers.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t? A world cruise — a voyage to the other side of the world, namely Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, sailing to someplace warm and sunny — just as long as it’s with family and friends.
