Carnival, Holland America go big on America250 cruise celebrations

Plans for celebrations of American pride on Carnival Cruise Line and its sister line Holland America are getting bigger as America's 250th anniversary approaches.

Not only did Carnival just unveil a patriotic bow crest rolling out across its U.S. fleet, both Carnival and Holland America are inviting passengers to celebrate America250 this summer with special patriotic-themed cruises and festive onboard activities available across ships sailing from the U.S. While cruises over the Fourth of July holiday will feature the biggest celebrations, Carnival will even offer patriotic events and activities on board cruises setting sail in June.

Here's a look at what Carnival and Holland America Line cruise passengers can expect as both cruise lines celebrate the American spirit on board their ships this summer.

Carnival offering America250 celebrations from June 4 to July 4

Carnival cruise vacationers setting sail between June 4 and July 4 can look forward to opportunities to celebrate the red, white and blue on board their cruises as Carnival extends its America's 250th birthday bash to a month-long celebration.

Sailings across the fleet will feature specials events and activities, including patriotic-themed trivia and red, white and blue crafts from June 4 to July 4, and expanded celebrations on cruises sailing over the Fourth of July.

Carnival's Fourth of July cruises include activities like:

  • A Fourth of July deck party
  • An ice cream eating contest and American-themed pool and deck games
  • Themed trivia, dance classes, movies, and youth activities

Select cruises sailing over July 4, 2026 will include an even bigger America250 birthday bash with patriotic ship meetups and Fourth of July fireworks viewing at sea. Seven Carnival cruise ships will meet outside of Carnival's Celebration Key for synchronized deck parties and three ships will anchor side-by-side for Fourth of July fireworks viewing at sea in San Diego.

On these special America's 250th birthday cruises, passengers can expect even more American-themed fun like live music sets focusing on American rock & roll and a special balloon drop, as well as festive food and drink offerings.

Holland America Line to offer picnic-inspired Fourth of July parties at sea

Carnival's Holland America Line is also preparing to honor America's milestone birthday in meaningful ways on board ships sailing in North America.

In addition to offering a special Stars and Stripes cruise from Boston featuring Fourth of July fireworks, historic ports, and special programming, the cruise line will feature its own style of America250 celebration on board additional cruises sailing over the Fourth of July.

Passengers cruising on select Holland America ships over July 4, 2026 - like those sailing in Alaska - will have the opportunity to enjoy culinary experiences and celebratory events designed to honor America's history, culture, and spirit. They'll also receive commemorative keepsakes on board.

On Independence Day, Holland America ships sailing in North America will host a festive party featuring live music performances with a "Soundtrack of America" theme. Celebrations will include traditional Fourth of July picnic food, interactive lawn games, themed trivia, scavenger hunts, and live cooking demonstrations inspired by classic American flavors and traditions.

Holland America cruises will offer festive Fourth of July picnic food

As Holland America Line ships bring the spirit of a traditional Fourth of July picnic to sea, passengers will be able to enjoy festive dishes in the main dining room and buffet, as well as themed beverages.

Patriotic breakfast offerings in the Dining Room and Lido Market will include:

  • Berry Spangled Brioche with berry compote and blueberry whipped cream
  • Yankee Doodle Waffle with mixed berries, whipped cream, and granola
  • Stars and Stripes Parfait with vanilla Greek yogurt, mixed berries, and granola

For dinner, the Lido Market will transform into an all-American barbecue featuring favorites such as dry-rubbed beef, smoked barbecue pork ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, broiled salmon with pico de gallo, Texas vegetarian chili, and chicken gumbo soup, along with classic sides including three-bean salad, coleslaw, and potato salad. Desserts will include American Flag Cake, blueberry pie, New York cheesecake, Boston cream pie, and no-sugar-added strawberry shortcake.

Featured Fourth of July beverages available across the fleet will include:

  • Firework - pineapple vodka, lemon, lime, and fresh raspberries
  • Star Spangled - gin, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, cucumber, honey, lemon, and lime
  • America the Blue-tiful - rum, blue curaçao, and pineapple juice
  • A bucket of beer special featuring five domestic beers

Collaborations with heritage brands enrich Holland America Line's America250 celebrations

Holland America is also honoring America's 250th anniversary through collaborations with iconic American brands that reflect the nation's craftsmanship, culture, and legacy, including:

  • Jefferson's Bourbon, which is now aging bourbon on cruise ships across the line's fleet
  • Crane Stationery, which teamed up with Holland America on an exclusive collection of handcrafted cards designed by artists from the United States Veterans' Artists Alliance
  • Pendleton Woolen Mills, which partnered with Holland America on a custom-designed Alaska-themed throw blanket
  • Pan Am, which joined forces with Holland America to design a 2027 Pan Am cruise inspired by the historic Pan Am Clipper routes
