Wet, thundery weather in store for the Valley this afternoon
Chattahoochee Valley residents should be prepared for some wet and rainy weather this afternoon as a line of storms moves through the area, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service
UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee and Talbot Counties until 2:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service says rainshowers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible before 4 p.m. , with more storms possible after that time as well. The overall chance of rain this afternoon is 60 percent, the service said.
Much of North and Central Georgia has been advised of possible hazardous weather. Total rainfall is expected to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, unless thunderstorms dump more rain than expected, the service said.
The storms are expected to clear up some later in the night, with rain most likely before 9 p.m. Overall, the chance of rain for the night is 30 percent.
The temperature should remain fairly warm, with a high of 72 and a low of 54 tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
