Two local fraternity chapters provided turkeys and Thanksgiving dinner baskets this week to families in need.

The Lambda Iota and Nu Delta Chapters of the the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., handed out 300 turkeys to those who waited in line at the Georgia Department of Labor parking lot at 700 Veterans Parkway Tuesday evening. The Delta Iota Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., presented seven families with Thanksgiving dinner baskets, prepared by the Publix Supermarket deli on Bradley Park Drive.

“We decided to raise the bar this year and touch more families,” said Omega Psi Phi chapter president Travis Chambers. The fraternity brother raised the money through their own donations in the spirit of their commitment to community service. “We dug a little deeper to do this,” Chambers said.

The local Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity brothers have been providing dinner baskets to families for more than 15 years.
