Ledger-Enquirer makes change to print schedule, online focus for more great journalism.
It’s no secret that in 2024, those looking for the best experience when reading their news are going online. Reporters publishing their work online are able to move faster, give their audience more details and continuously follow stories with up-to-date information.
We’ve noticed what strong reporting we can provide to you, which is a big part of why we’ve decided to further focus our efforts online. On Aug. 19, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer will reduce its print days to two per week.
Why are we doing this? Well, we believe it’s the best way to bring our best work to you in all formats. For print, we are aiming to bring you a paper packed full of deep reporting that includes impactful features and essential accountability journalism. A reduction to two days per week ensures that we have the time, the resources and the preparation to do just that every time.
For our website, this means we have more time to pursue good journalism and bring it to you online. We have seen in recent years that our audience is moving online more and more, showing us that what readers care about most is good journalism, no matter the format. This move allows us to lean into that and deliver great reporting that you can find more often and more easily than ever before with our suite of online platforms.
The vast majority of our subscribers find us online – whether it be through our new and highly interactive Edition, our social media pages on Twitter/X, Facebook and Instagram, or ledger-enquirer.com, where readers can find up-to-the-minute breaking news all hours of the day.
We’re excited for the opportunity that this brings us to more consistently deliver you, our subscribers, news with more depth and timeliness than you can get anywhere else. And keep doing it for years to come.
I want to make sure you know that this is not a sign of the Ledger-Enquirer reducing its work quality. In fact, it’s a sign of the opposite. As our audience moves online, we’re putting ourselves in a position to deliver our best work yet. This is a plan to strengthen our publication more than anything else.
So what can you expect to happen next? On Aug. 19, we will reduce our number of print days to two per week. For our print subscribers, you will get two great papers on Wednesday and Saturday.
In the meantime, I encourage you to take full advantage of everything we have to offer digitally. Our Edition gives you breaking news, in-depth accountability work, impactful features and national stories that have local impacts, and it’s published seven days a week online.
You can also find fresh news 24/7 at ledger-enquirer.com. You’ll find more news on our website than in any of our other products.
