Warrant: Dispute over tire payment leads to knife attack in Marietta

Brian Keith Smith, 28, of Powder Springs, is accused of slashing a man's stomach with a utility knife on April 9 at 2 a.m. at Tires 24/7 New & Used, 1740 Cobb Parkway South in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Marietta Police Department.

Smith was in a business dispute with the victim, who fixed his tire before the altercation.

Smith offered sexual favors to the victim via his female friends in exchange for the cost of fixing his tires. The victim declined and one of the female friends paid for the tire service before leaving, according to the warrant.

Smith was upset and began a physical altercation with the victim. He used a utility knife to slash the victim across his stomach, leaving a 5 to 6 inch wound. Smith chased the victim through the area and eventually back inside the store. The victim then grabbed a sharp tool to defend himself when police arrived on the scene and deescalated the situation, according to the warrant.

Smith is charged with aggravated assault weapon. He was arrested on April 9 at 2:33 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.

Smith remains in custody without bond.
