Kiwanis Club of Marietta Golden K served first responders a 4th of July lunch
For the past two decades on the Fourth of July, the Kiwanis Club of Marietta Golden K members have volunteered to serve a BBQ lunch for Marietta first responders on Atherton Square, adjacent to Glover Park on Marietta Square.
This year on the 250th year anniversary of the nation, the tradition was repeated.
Marietta first responders enjoyed a well-deserved BBQ lunch, with all the trimmings. Some of the first responders had just finished a shift, some were on duty, some would go on duty later that day and finally, a "take out" luncheon plate was taken to those who were still at their posts.
Lunch was served at Atherton Square while in Glover Park, a huge 250th year USA birthday celebration was taking place. Despite the 4th of July heat, a huge crowd turned out to celebrate and have a good time.
The 4th of July luncheon on Atherton Square happens because Marietta makes arrangements for it, Williamson Bros. Restaurants "cook/caterer" the event and the Kiwanis Club of Marietta Golden K "serves" the food.
