Two road closures in north Columbus on Monday have the potential to impact traffic flow.
The eastbound lane of Double Churches Road between Fortson Road/Northlake Drive and Veterans Parkway will be closed Monday for construction work to make improvements at the Double Churches/Veterans intersection. The lane is expected to be closed for a month.
A detour route will take traffic northbound up Fortson Road, then east on Williams Road to Veterans Parkway.
Westbound traffic on Double Churches Road will not be detoured. Left and right turns from Veterans Parkway onto Double Churches Road will still be allowed, as well as vehicles continuing straight from the westbound ramp of J.R. Allen Parkway.
Signal timing at the affected intersections will be adjusted to facilitate the additional traffic along the detour route.
Nearby, the eastern intersection of Whittlesey Road and Bradley Park Drive will close to all traffic on Monday so the contractor widening Whittlesey can adjust the pavement height at the intersection, city officials announced today.
The intersection is expected to be reopened on Thursday.
A signed detour route will be established along Whitesville Road and Veterans Parkway. This is the same detour route that was used for previous closures related to the Whittlesey Road project.
Whittlesey Road and Bradley Park Drive will remain open to local traffic on all sides of the intersection.
