Harris County sheriff’s deputy shot in head during traffic stop
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a gunman after a male deputy was shot in the head during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.
Sheriff Mike Jolley said the deputy is expected to go into surgery soon at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. The deputy is being treated for a gunshot wound over his left eye.
Jolley said the deputy was approaching a vehicle with three occupants inside when one fired on him about 6:30 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office has a description of the vehicle and a search is underway for the suspect.
The sheriff is hopeful that the deputy will survive.
“I believe he is going to make it,” Jolley said.
