Financial technology company to add 55 jobs in Columbus

InComm, a financial technology company that has been in Columbus since 2006, is preparing to add 55 jobs to its existing workforce here as part of a $20 million expansion in Georgia.

The Atlanta-based company also will increase its staffing there by roughly 100 people, while also investing in its facilities in the two cities, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said Tuesday in a news release.

InComm is a prepaid product and payment technology firm that has space in the Brookstone Centre office park off Bradley Park Drive in north Columbus. The local operation already has about 100 employees.

“They’re ramping up pretty quickly,” said Brian Sillitto, executive vice president of economic development at the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce. “They’re probably going to be done hiring by, I would say, sometime in June or July.”

Available jobs will include fraud analyst, dispute analyst and licensing representative, according to its careers page. Pay will range from $35,000 to 70,000 per year, depending on the position.

The state was the lead on it,” Sillitto said of the project. “We were brought in on it as well. We think there could potentially be even more growth out of this company in Columbus within the next 12 months. We’re pretty bullish on InComm.”

InComm recently closed a deal to purchase distribution rights of the American Express prepaid reloadable and gift card products in the U.S., the state said, while also buying a technology platform called Serve.

“The addition of the American Express suite of products strengthens the already extensive portfolio of prepaid cards and technologies that we provide to retailers and consumers,” Brooks Smith, InComm’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “In addition to bringing new distribution partners into our network, we look forward to welcoming 400 employees to our workforce nationally, more than 150 of whom will work in several of our Georgia offices.”

InComm says it has a presence in more than 30 nations, with it also having a portfolio of 246 global patents. Its career page indicates the company’s U.S. office locations include the states of Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah and Washington.

“We are excited that InComm will be adding 55 new jobs to its Columbus location,” Russ Carreker, Development Authority of Columbus chairman, said in a statement. “Columbus continues to be well positioned for companies that are engaged in business support services and we know that InComm is expanding here because they are able to find the talented people they need, many of whom have prior military service.”
