Arizona-based company to create 50 jobs, invest $25 million in Columbus. Here are the details

Zummit Plastics, a manufacturer of plastic stretch film, is planning to open a new manufacturing facility in Columbus, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

The company based in Phoenix City, Arizona, is expanding with plans to create 50 new jobs and invest $25 million into the project in Columbus. The location and opening date were not announced.

“We are proud to announce our expansion of Zummit Plastics into Columbus,” said Penny Lucius, operations manager for Zummit Plastics. “Zummit Plastics chose Georgia to accommodate our existing customers as well as new customers on the east coast more efficiently.”

Zummit is the only company in the United States that produces biodegradable stretch film, according to the department of economic development.

“This announcement is a fantastic way to wrap up 2019,” said Russ Carreker, chairman of the Development Authority of Columbus. “We are grateful that Zummit Plastics decided to choose Columbus as the place to achieve business success with their environmentally-friendly stretch film products.”
