What to know about new type of pet ‘wellness center’ opening this week in Columbus

Columbus-area pet owners will now have another veterinarian option for their beloved family members come Saturday.

PetIQ, a company focused on providing vet services and pet wellness and health products in retail stores across the country, is opening a new location inside of the Walmart on 5448 Whittlesey Blvd. The name of the location will be VetIQ Petcare Wellness Center, according to a press release.

The grand opening celebration will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Feb. 15. Attendees can get free items for their pets, treats for dogs and cats, and enter to win free services from the center. Attendees can also get a free voucher for 50% off their first visit to the center while supplies last, according to the release.

A licensed veterinarian will be on site and no appointments will be needed to get an exam or get shots. The location has been open for a few months, but this is the official grand opening celebration for the center.

The center has various packages available starting at $78 for dogs and cats to get both exams and vaccines done at the same time, but there are a la carte services available for as little as $17.

This VetIQ location is one of six across the state of Georgia. PetIQ also has locations in Douglasville, Kennesaw, Savannah and more.
