Two Columbus area Stein Mart locations are closing this year. Here’s what to know
Stein Mart plans to close all 279 of their stores, including two in the Chattahoochee Valley, after filing for Chapter 11 reorganization last week.
The discount department store based in Jacksonville, Florida, cited the challenging retail market due to COVID-19 as the main reason for shutting their doors. According to their FAQ page, all stores across the county will be closed by the end of 2020.
Stein Mart has two locations in the area: one in Columbus, located at 1627 Bradley Park Drive and another in Auburn, located at 1627 Opelika Road. The hours of operations for both locations are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Here are the main takeaways from Stein Mart’s going out of business sale:
- Gift cards can be used in stores through Sept. 21. Balances will expire on Sept. 22.
- Items purchased before Aug. 12 can be returned to the store through Sept. 12, but all purchases made during the going out of business sale are final.
- Cash and cards will still be accepted until the store closes.
- Stein Mart’s online store is no longer operational.
Current discounts in stores range from 10% to 40% and are expected to increase as the weeks go on, according to a company Facebook post.
