Thrift store chain opening new location in Opelika with discount days for some shoppers

Opelika will be the new home of one of the largest thrift stores in the southeast later this fall, thanks to a southern chain of thrift stores.

America’s Thrift Stores will open its 16th Alabama store in the former Gander Mountain location at 1640 Parker Way on Nov. 19. The Opelika store will be the company’s 21st location across Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.

According to the company’s website, the new store will be one of the largest thrift stores in the southeast. More than 10,000 items will be added to racks and shelves daily, according to the site.

The thrift store will also have special shopping days such as seasonal sales, senior Mondays and military/first responder Wednesdays where further discounts will be offered. The store’s discounted colors each week will be posted on the company’s Facebook page each Monday morning as well.

Here’s the complete list of discount days and how much you can save, according to the store’s FAQ page:

  • Monday: Senior Day – 10% off with valid ID
  • Wednesday: Hero’s Day – 10% off for First Responders, Military Personnel, National Guard, Reserves and Veterans with valid ID
  • Thursday: Education Day – 10% off for college students, teachers and education personnel with valid ID

America’s Thrift Stores is also hiring for numerous positions at the new Opelika store, including retail team members, donation center attendants and more. To apply for a job, click here.
