The largest apartment developer and operator in Columbus is planning a new luxury complex on the north side of town.

Greystone Properties is planning a 240-unit apartment complex at 2395 Whittlesey Road, managing partner Will White told the Ledger-Enquirer Monday. The company has submitted a rezoning application for the 35-acre vacant lot near Main Street Village.

White said the complex will look similar to one the company owns in Auburn, Greystone Pointe.

“It will be a very high-end project,” White said.

The complex will have amenities like a garden, pet spa, a “high-end fitness center” and billiards room, White said. It will have one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, according to Greystone’s website.

“That project and Greystone Pointe, that is currently under construction, will be the two nicest apartment complexes in Columbus, without a doubt,” White said.

White could not give a construction cost estimate due to the fluctuating costs of materials brought on by the COVID pandemic. Rezoning, if approved, will occur in July. After that, construction would take around 27 months. That time period could change, White said, also due to material costs.

Greystone owns and operates around 4,000 apartment units in Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee — more than 2,800 of them in Columbus. It has 10 complexes in the city.

“It’ll be a very nice Greystone project,” White said. “And I think it’ll serve that area well and the jobs that are between Bradley Park and Columbus Park (Crossing).”
