A new breakfast-and-brunch spot with biscuit sandwiches and cocktails is coming to Columbus.

Biscuit Belly, a fast-casual brunch concept, will open a Columbus location as part of its expansion to Georgia, according to a release.

The location and opening date were not provided. Missy Moon, franchisee for the newly announced Columbus, Newnan, Marietta, Woodstock and Acworth locations, did not respond to interview requests. A spokesperson did not provide further details about the expansion.

“As an experienced franchise owner who has been in the business for two decades, I am confident in what Biscuit Belly has to offer franchise owners and guests alike and have no doubt we will experience great success in the state of Georgia,” Moon said in a press release.

The restaurant will open five franchised units in the state, with the first debuting in March 2022 at 3330 Cobb Parkway NW in Acworth, according to the AJC. The restaurant chain has locations in Louisville, Kentucky and Indiana.

Moon and Robert Estapa with Fresh Development One LLC will own and operate the five new locations in Georgia.

Biscuit Belly was founded in 2019. Its menu features a variety of biscuit sandwiches, breakfast cocktails and other Southern breakfast fare.

Dishes include the Belly Buster, made with fried chicken breast, sausage, bacon, brisket, cheddar, mushroom gravy and an egg on a biscuit.

The menu also includes a few non-biscuit items like goetta and pancakes. There are a gluten-free and vegetarian options, including a veggie gravy. Smoked or crunchy tofu can be substituted for other proteins.

Founder Chad Coulter said last year the concept has a gourmet menu, delivered quickly, at a price point a little below competitors like Wild Eggs or First Watch, other popular breakfast-lunch chains.
