When is Starbucks opening new Columbus location? Update on construction in midtown
Columbus’ newest Starbucks location is under construction and expected to open this spring.
The national coffee chain is opening a spot in the midtown area of Columbus, at the site formerly occupied by a CB&T building at 3172 Macon Road. The building has been demolished.
The location is expected to open in the coming months, according to Parker Johnston, a Waddell Holding Co. commercial sales and leasing executive for Midtown Shopping Center.
“They’re doing the grading and replacing some of the existing soil with more compact soil, and then they’ll start the asphalt and all that, and then build the building last,” Johnston told the Ledger-Enquirer Tuesday. “ ... You’re looking for probably closer to the end of April for an opening date.”
A typical Starbucks store takes around eight weeks to erect, Johnston said.
It’s on a 0.6-acre lot, and when built, the location will have a square footage of 2,200. Johnston could not provide a cost for the build-out.
Starbucks corporate did not respond to multiple inquiries from the Ledger-Enquirer.
Starbucks has several locations in the Columbus market, including on Manchester Expressway, Bradley Park Drive and Veterans Parkway. There also are smaller outlets on Fort Benning and inside Target on Bradley Park Drive.
The coffee chain is known for its seasonal offerings, like the pumpkin spice latte and peppermint mocha, and serves up a variety of espresso-based drinks and teas. It also offers food items, from sandwiches to sugary treats, for those looking to grab a quick bite to eat.
