Columbus restaurant scores 51 on health inspection in Dec. 2021. Here are other scores
The Ledger-Enquirer has compiled a list of the best and worst health scores for Muscogee County restaurants during December 2021 from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Most restaurants received an “A” grade with many receiving perfect scores. But one Muscogee County restaurant received a failing grade in the latest round of health scores.
One restaurant fails
Denny’s, 3239 Macon Road, received a failing score of a 51 on Dec. 29.
The inspector, Sharonica Williams, observed food stored in unsafe conditions, food stored uncovered and unclean surfaces, according to the inspection report.
Williams noted sliced and whole tomatoes located in the main kitchen prep top cooler stored in “discolored and sludgy water,” according to the report. An employee discarded the items.
Williams also noted the facility serving cranberry sauce out of a metal can, which was torn and ripped open. It was noted that metal particles and contaminates could be transferred to food items. The items in question were discarded.
“A food that is unsafe, adulterated, or not honestly presented shall be discarded or reconditioned according to an approved procedure,” Williams noted in the report.
Williams observed salmon, chicken tenders, chicken patty and onion rings stored uncovered in a reach-in-freezer located in the main kitchen. The chicken tenders, chicken patty and onion rings properly were wrapped and placed in the freezer.
Additional violations included “unclean food contact surfaces (cutting boards),” raw eggs, liquid eggs and shredded cheese stored at temperatures above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, and improper food date markings.
In total, the restaurant was docked for 12 violations.
