These are the Columbus-area cities with the lowest cost of living. Which is on top?

If you’re looking to buy or rent a home or apartment in the Columbus area, there’s a new online study that shows which cities in the Chattahoochee Valley have the cheapest cost of living.

Niche published a study titled 2022 Places with the Lowest Cost of Living in the Columbus, GA Area that examines cost of living in our area.

Niche analyzes cities based on a plethora of factors, some of which include affordability, public school rating, higher education rate, diversity, access to healthcare, employment rates, nightlife, crime and safety ratings and weather. Niche then assigns each city a grade.

The study also includes several reviews from current and past residents.

Here are the top five cities with the lowest cost of living, according to Niche.

Ladonia

Overall Niche Grade: B-

Pros: weather, commute, diversity, housing and cost of living

Cons: crime and health and fitness

Reviews: 3.5/5 stars, according to current and former residents

Smiths Station

Overall Niche Grade: B

Pros: jobs, public schools, housing, diversity, weather and health and fitness

Cons: crime, commute, outdoor activities

Reviews: 4/5 stars, according to current and former residents

Phenix City

Overall Niche Grade: B

Pros: diversity, weather, cost of living, outdoor activities, good for families and housing

Cons: crime and safety, jobs, and health and fitness

Cusseta-Chattahoochee County

Overall Niche Grade: B
