The Columbus Council is considering amending a code that would allow the outdoor consumption of alcohol in a designated entertainment district downtown.

If approved, the changes would allow people to carry alcohol in approved containers with some restrictions. At least one business owner has questioned the boundaries of the proposed entertainment district because it excludes restaurants east of Broadway.

This potential change to the downtown experience comes after a request from the passenger-powered party bike company Pedal Pub expands its business into Columbus and Phenix City.

The council could vote on the proposal as soon as Nov. 8, and the Ledger-Enquirer wants to know what readers think about the proposal. Vote in our unscientific poll to let us know what your thoughts are on allowing alcohol consumption outdoors and the proposed boundaries of the entertainment district.
