Which new restaurant is Columbus most excited about? Vote in the final round!

There were more than 18,000 votes from readers to support their favorite new restaurants in the last three weeks, and it’s time for the final round to find out which restaurant can take the bragging rights.

New restaurants were opening up all over Columbus, Phenix City and the surrounding areas last year. After three weeks of voting featuring 12 restaurants, and the winners from each week will now go head-to-head in a final round.

In Week 1, It’s Tamale Time won with 64% of the vote. Big Mama Vietnamese Kitchen took first place in Week 2 with 62% of the vote. And in Week 3’s round, Vietnamese cuisine came out ahead of the pack again as Pho Saigon won with 50% of the vote.

Here’s some details about the three restaurants featured in the final round of voting:

  • It’s Tamale Time opened in Phenix City in May this year, and will soon open a second location in Highside Market in Columbus. Chef JR McKinny grew his business in the Columbus area selling tamales at farmers markets after moving his family to Georgia in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

  • Big Mama Vietnam Kitchen opened in August 2022 on Sidney Simons Boulevard. The family-owned restaurant features recipes passed down through the generations.

  • Pho SaiGon features recipes from the older generation of Vietnamese food when Saigon was the capital of Vietnam. The restaurant opened last September and is located on Airport Thruway.

Vote in this poll, and come back next week to find out who won. It’s up to our readers to decide which new restaurant will have the bragging rights. This poll is not scientific, and you can vote as many times as you would like between now and when the poll closes Friday at noon.

Due to technical difficulties, this poll has been reset and will run again for another week to ensure we have the most accurate numbers possible.
