Here’s the new youth clothing brand opening in Highside Market later this fall

The Auburn-based youth clothing brand Fox & Pheasant will open a location in the Columbus development Highside Market, which is preparing for its upcoming soft opening this fall.

Fox & Pheasant was founded by Kathy Crowley and currently sells products online through the brand’s Instagram channel. The 512-square-foot space in Highside Market will be the brand’s first storefront location.

The Cotton Companies, the company developing Highside Market, reached out to Fox & Pheasant after the brand’s online presence caught their attention, Chris Woodruff, CEO and founder of the Cotton Companies, told the Ledger-Enquirer.

“They had a very strong following of shoppers who were looking for great clothes for youths and tweens,” Woodruff said.

A major priority for Highside Market was curating a mix of tenants that speak to different groups of the population, he said, and Fox & Pheasant ensures there’s a store for children and parents.

While Fox & Pheasant is Auburn-based, Crowley has ties to Columbus. She grew up in Alabama, he said, but went to high school in Columbus and Auburn for college.

Crowley ended up living in Auburn, he said, and that’s where she began her youth and tweens brand.

She is a creative individual, strong leader and has an entrepreneurial spirit that people would associate with a small business owner operating from her home, Woodruff said.

“I’ve always been impressed with Kathy’s excitement, tenacity and her willingness to step outside of her comfort zone to do cool things that may not be in a marketplace setting, but are very much needed,” he said.

This fall, Highside Market will have a “rolling opening,” Woodruff said. There will be soft openings as businesses in the development open in October and November with a grand opening in December. Fox & Pheasant is expected to open with one of the earlier soft openings, he said.

About 80% of the available tenant space in the development is full, Woodruff said. Although Highside Market’s opening is imminent, he said, there’s still a lot of work to do on this project that he’s been on since 2018.

“We’re never going to stop fine tuning and working on this project,” Woodruff said. “But we’ve come a long way, and I’m very proud of my team.”
