Chester’s Barbecue opens new satellite location for its fans in downtown Columbus
Fans of Chester’s Barbecue in Columbus just got another option to get their rib tips and chicken sandwiches for lunch while downtown.
Eloquence Fashion Cafe, an internet cafe and boutique at 900 Front Ave., is now a satellite location for Chester’s. The cafe offers food items from the popular barbecue restaurant Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Earlier this year, Chester’s closed its location on Veterans Parkway. The decision was part of a plan for retirement, owner Toya Chester told the Ledger-Enquirer in April.
The closing of this Chester’s location inspired the owner of Eloquence Fashion Cafe, Natasha Johnson, to get involved.
“We all love (Chester’s),” she told the Ledger-Enquirer. “So, we talked to the owner about selling it in the cafe.”
Chester’s customers can enjoy Eloquence Fashion Cafe’s shopping experience while they wait for their food orders, Johnson said. The menu ranges from sandwiches to ribs and to a variety of sides like macaroni and cheese, potato salad and baked beans.
The restaurant brings the food to the cafe each day when the cafe is operating as a satellite, said Margaret Johnson, Natasha’s collaborative partner. Chester’s ensured the cafe’s processes when serving customers mirrored what is done at the restaurant.
Along with the barbecue, Eloquence Fashion Cafe is also working with Angela Thompson of Bake Believe Cupcakes to offer dessert on Wednesdays through Fridays.
Earlier this week, Thompson sold her Peach Cobbler Pound Cake at the cafe alongside Chester’s Barbecue. It was a brown sugar pound cake topped with maple cinnamon glaze, spiced peaches and caramel drizzle. Other items Thompson sells at Eloquence includes her strawberry shortcake cupcake, banana pudding and caramel cupcakes.
The cafe is a good place to both sell her prepackaged products and fulfill orders for customers who live in Columbus and Phenix City, Thompson said.
“I do drop-offs and pick-ups (at Eloquence) now,” she said.
Johnson hopes customers have a “magical experience” at the cafe with the food options available to them.
“I want (people) to walk away with a full stomach and a beautiful outfit,” she said.
