J.R. Crickets Sports Bar closed in Columbus. Here’s the restaurant opening in its place
A new Indian cuisine restaurant is preparing to open on Manchester Expressway in the former J.R. Crickets Sports Bar locations.
Dishoom Bistro will be a “fine dining, family-style” restaurant, manager Talha Danish told the Ledger-Enquirer. The owners hope the restaurant will fill a dining experience gap in Columbus, he said.
“I know this city doesn’t have a lot of good, Indian food,” Danish said. “We’re trying to get the vibe of Atlanta restaurants over here — like a big city restaurant.”
The building was a good location for Dishoom Bistro because the new eatery will stand out among the chain restaurants in the area, he said, and Manchester Expressway is a high traffic area in Columbus.
The amount of time between J.R. Crickets shutting down it’s operation in the building and transforming it to Dishoom Bistro has been short.
“I am telling you this has been the shortest amount of time it took to remake the restaurant like this,” Danish said. “We turned the restaurant upside down within one month.”
Columbus residents can expect a combination of South and North Indian cuisine along with Indian fusion, he said. Dishoom Bistro is undergoing its final inspections, Danish said, and will be ready to open in the near future.
People can keep up with news and announcements regarding the restaurant’s opening on their social media, Danish said.
J.R. Crickets closed around a month ago. A message from the business’ Facebook account on the Columbus, GA Foodies group page states the sports bar closed so the owners can move back to Atlanta.
The Ledger-Enquirer was unable to get in contact with the owners of J.R. Crickets.
Dishoom Bistro is near St. Francis-Emory hospital, next door to Dunkin’ Donuts. Danish expects the restaurant to have more success in the location than its predecessors.
“We are bringing the final restaurant in this location,” he said. “This location is deserving all the time to have a good restaurant.”
