Goal of business opening at Fort Moore is to be ‘ultimate dining and entertainment’ space
The new full service restaurant Lucy’s Roadhouse opened June 14 and hopes to bring a unique experience to the people that live and work in Fort Moore.
Owned by brothers Michael and Tim Morley, the restaurant is in Building 2784 at 7611 Sightseeing Rd. Lucy’s Roadhouse’s opening fills a dining and entertainment void on the military installation, house manager Amy Lawhorne told the Ledger-Enquirer.
There are thousands of people who live and work on post who have important jobs and missions, she said.
There are over 60,000 permanent active duty military, military trainees, family members and civilian workers at Fort Moore, according to the Department of Defense.
As a full service restaurant, Lucy’s Roadhouse is designed to be a place the military community can come together and enjoy without leaving post, Lawhorne said.
“Fort Moore doesn’t really have a place right now that allows them to relax and enjoy themselves,” Lawhorne said.
Inside Lucy’s Roadhouse
Lawhorne is a military wife. Her husband and brother-in-law are both stationed at Fort Moore, and she expects their families to frequent Lucy’s.
Their kids play sports, she said, and Lucy’s will be a good place to go after sports or other activities. In the past, eating out while staying on base has been limited with most options being fast food restaurants or places that close too early, Lawhorne said.
Lucy’s Roadhouse will be convenient with its operating hours running Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and stay open until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The restaurant has two rooms: a main dining room that’s family friendly and a tap room for people over the age of 18. A main feature of the tap room is the tap wall with about 40 different drink options featuring beer, cocktails, wine and other options.
Customers should expect a varied menu, Lawhorne said, that features items ranging from tacos to burgers and chicken pot pie to blackened salmon.
“My favorite item on the menu is probably going to be our filet,” she said.
Along with the food, live music will be a large part of the experience at Lucy’s. There is a stage area where musicians will perform.
During the June 14 opening, local band The Jack Banks Special will perform country and classic rock. During the opening, customers will also hear music from Jake Carroll, Abby Perper and Jake Harrelson.
“Music helps you remember the good times and process the bad,” Lawhorne said.
Lucy’s expects to have live music every Friday and Saturday night, she said. And there will be other events and activities including karaoke, UFC Fight Night, Trivia Night and other events.
“(We) aim to be the ultimate entertainment and dining space for military members,” Lawhorne said. “Just the community hub where there’s great food, live music and camaraderie together to create memorable experiences.”
