Columbus flooring store going out of business ‘with a heavy heart.’ Here’s how soon

LL Flooring (formerly known as Lumber Liquidators) announced plans to close all of their stores in a matter of weeks.

Failed attempts to negotiate the sale of the business after filing bankruptcy resulted in the liquidation of all of the flooring store’s brick and mortar stores.

“As a result, it is with a heavy heart that we must let you know that we are going to begin the process of winding down LL Flooring’s business and closing all of our stores,” said Charles Tyson, CEO, in a letter to customers.

At one point, LL Flooring had more than 435 stores. As voluntary bankruptcy proceedings began, the company opted to close about 100 locations.

LL Flooring has 300 locations in 47 states. More than 200 of the stores have begun the closing process. Of the 13 Georgia locations, Roswell, Conyers, Cumming and Smyrna stores will be the first to close and have started liquidating stock with steep price reductions.

The rest of the stores will initiate the closing process starting Friday, Sept. 6, said company officials.

“We expect the store closure process to be completed in approximately 12 weeks, with the timing of closures varying from store to store,” officials reported in a document of frequently asked questions from consumers.

In Columbus, it was pretty much business as usual on Friday. According to its web page, the location’s current sale offers half off flooring, installation and delivery through Sept. 10.

One exception to standard practice has been the cancellation of new installations. Friday, Sept. 6, is the last day stores will offer installation service. Installations booked on or before that day are expected to be fulfilled.

The local LL Flooring is located at 4211 Milgen Road, Unit 3, Columbus, GA 31907. The location is currently open seven days a week. For more information, visit llflooring.com or call the store at (706) 405-3367.
