The U.S. Small Business Administration in Georgia has honored Columbus banker Colby Cardin as its 2012 Georgia Financial Services Champion of the Year.
Cardin, who is group vice president for business banking and the SBA Manager at Columbus Bank and Trust, received the award Wednesday in Atlanta. He was among several from across the state recognized by the SBA.
Cardin’s honor came because of his advocacy of accounting and financial services in the area of small business. His work includes helping small businesses start up and expand through SBA lending programs, while training lenders on the agency’s resources.
Aside from work with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, he also has assisted the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center here, as well as the Service Corps of Retired Executives, a program that advises entrepreneurs. He also is a business startup trainer with the Wounded Warrior Battalion at Fort Benning.
