Book lovers have another reason to celebrate this week. Columbus welcomed its newest literary haven with the grand opening of Columbus Bound Bookshop, an independently-owned bookstore that promises to be a place for the reading community to gather.
Although it’s been welcoming customers for a few weeks, the store officially opened its doors on Saturday, Nov. 16, in the shopping center on 13th Street They celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Midtown Columbus, book buyers, and many many excited members of the community. It was wall-to-wall book lovers on Saturday.
The event kicked off with the ribbon-cutting ceremony, but the festivities continued well into the afternoon with storytime with Grammy Trish.
The owner, Khristina Gallagher, expressed her excitement about bringing a diverse selection of books to Columbus and creating a space where readers can share their passion for reading. Its proximity to Midtown Coffee is no accident either. Gallagher wants her customers to linger over their books and spend time with one another.
Columbus Bound Books aims to sell books to and for all levels of literacy. They’ve already been a shop-about-town. They hosted an adult book fair at Scofflaw Brewery last month and a Princess-for-a-day event at the Easter Seals.
They’ve got some big plans for the new year, as well, with fantasy-themed occasions for the readers who love their books with a touch of the unreal (and fancy dragons). If the kind of reader that likes to talk about books with other readers, they have two Book Clubs to join: New Release Book Club and Paper Back Club.
