A Columbus BBQ restaurant hopes to reopen soon, bringing back familiar favorites

A Columbus favorite for barbecue may soon be reopening, hoping to bring back its famous chipped barbecue sandwiches.

Clearview BBQ on River Road has been closed since late November 2023, but fans of the restaurant may not have to wait much longer to indulge in their food once again: Shelby Dixon Hood, the new general manager for Clearview, said the restaurant is planning to open sometime this month.

Hood said her brother, Chris Dixon, bought the restaurant in November 2023 and said the restaurant has undergone a remodel since.

The restaurant has new flooring, kitchen equipment, tables and chairs, concrete countertops, a fountain drink station, and a paved parking lot among other new things, according to Hood.

While the restaurant will have many new features, there will still be the familiar menu items with the same recipes people have come to love, Hood said.

The chipped barbecue sandwiches will make their return at the new price of $2.50, which customers can get with the original three Clearview sauces and two new “Yellowjacket” sauces, Hood said.

Another big change: people will now be able to pay using credit and debit cards, according to Hood. Previously, the restaurant only took cash and personal checks. Hood said they will still accept cash, but will no longer accept personal checks.

New menu items will be added at a later date after the restaurant opens, according to Hood.
