One hotel opens, another one breaks ground. Find out what’s coming to Columbus.
As one hotel has its grand opening, another one breaks ground.
A stayAPT Suites and Tru by Hilton are coming to Columbus. The stayAPT Suites, 7402 Northlake Loop, is hosting its grand opening on Wednesday.
The Tru by Hilton, located across from Morten’s at Old Town on Massee Lane, is having its ground breaking ceremony on Thursday. It plans to open in summer 2026.
About stayAPT suites
stayAPT suites is an extended stay hotel, offering apartment-style units. The Columbus-Fort Benning location has 75 rooms, most of which most were booked at time of publication.
The stayAPT suites have been open for business since September, according to general manager Darius Mullen. The hotel is one of the highest rated long-stay hotels in the Columbus area, earning a 4.8 out of 5 star rating.
Mullen attributes the high ratings to the customer feedback, saying the hotel provides a “home-like atmosphere.”
“I’ve been humbled by the overwhelming feedback and that sentiment in our reviews,” Mullen said.
Prices vary depending on a customer’s length of stay. Rooms for short-term stays can range from $140 to $160 per night. The longer a customer stays, the lower the price per night goes.
“We give cheaper rates for the length you stay,” Mullen said. “It costs the most to stay for one night, but if you’re staying for a week, (the price per night) goes down to about $90. If you’re staying for a month that goes down to about $70 per night.”
Amenities include an outdoor courtyard, laundry facility and gym.
Mullen is a part of a four-person management team. He said job opportunities at the stayAPT suites will open up during the summer, one of the busiest travel times of the year.
About Tru by Hilton
The 98-room Tru by Hilton hotel is costing RAM Hotels, a Columbus-based hospitality development company, $14 million to complete.
Mitesh Patel, vice president of RAM Hotels, said the Tru hotel is the best of both modern design and low cost to book.
“We are able to fulfill that element of a very stylish, non-traditional hotel with a beautiful public area that feels really cool and modern, but at the same time it’s mainstream, so the cost is not that high,” Patel said. “When it opens, it will be able to target different demographics.”
The Tru by Hilton is marketed as “simple, spirited and grounded in value,” according to their website. Amenities include complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, and pet-friendly rooms.
RAM employed over 30 construction workers to complete the hotel. The company plans to employ about 20 to 22 employees for their hospitality staff.
The Tru by Hilton is the first of RAM’s new line of hotels in the Columbus-Phenix City area. Patel says four new hotels will be underway in the next coming years.
