GA package & liquor store schedules change for July 4th. See closings
Since the Fourth of July falls on a Friday this year, there may be some confusion about what will or won’t be open.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what offices and services will be affected for the Independence Day holiday.
These agencies and services will be closed for July 4:
Waste and recycle:
No trash, recycling or yard waste pick up
Friday routes will be collected on Wed., July 2
Granite Bluff and Pine Grove landfills
Government offices
All Georgia state government offices (including the Capitol and state offices)
Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) offices are closed July 4 and July 5

Unlike grocery and convenience places, under Georgia Code § 3-3-20 stores that exclusively sell alcohol face stricter regulations and are typically closed on major holidays such as July Fourth.
These businesses and organizations will be open on July 4:
Retail and grocery stores
Walmart: Open regular hours.
Publix: Open regular hours.
Aldi: Open with adjusted hours.
CVS and Walgreens: Open regular hours, though pharmacy hours may vary.
Target: Open regular hours.
Macy’s: Most stores open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Kohl’s: Open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
