Overview
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC compact luxury SUV is in its third model year on the current MHA platform, which arrived with a complete redesign for 2023. A turbocharged 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder drives the base GLC 300 in rear- or all-wheel-drive form, with a plug-in hybrid and two AMG performance trims bringing the lineup to five configurations. A coupe-styled GLC Coupe is also available. The GLC is Mercedes-Benz's best-selling model worldwide.
What's New for 2025
For the 2025 GLC, the GLC 350e plug-in hybrid rejoins the lineup after a five-year hiatus, now delivering an EPA-rated 54 miles of electric-only range from a 23.3-kWh battery, the longest in the compact luxury SUV segment.
Third-generation MBUX, a digital vehicle key, a center airbag between the front seats, and a 5G communications module are all new and standard across the full GLC SUV range for 2025. Lastly, Verde Silver Metallic and Maufaktur Alpine Grey exterior paints are new colors on offer for the year.
At the other end of the range, the all-new AMG GLC 63 S E Performance arrives with 671 combined horsepower from a handcrafted 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a rear Electric Drive Unit, with a manufacturer-claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. We review this model separately.
Exterior
The GLC's current-generation body carries forward with flush door handles, sculpted rear wheel arches, and a wide star-pattern grille. Full LED headlights with adaptive functionality are standard on the GLC 300. The optional Digital Light system, included in the Pinnacle package, uses high-resolution projection technology to display driver alerts on the road surface ahead. Standard wheel sizing is 18 inches on the GLC 300, with optional 19- and 20-inch designs. The AMG GLC 43 receives a distinct front fascia, sill extensions, and rear apron as standard body differentiation, along with 20-inch AMG-specific wheels.
Buyers who want the AMG visual treatment without the performance powertrain can add the optional AMG Line exterior package to the GLC 300 or GLC 350e. For added style but less practicality, the GLC Coupe's rear ends in a sporty fastback profile.
Interior
The paired 11.9-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital cluster run third-generation MBUX with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice control, and the new Routines function as standard across all trims. MB-Tex leatherette seating, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a wireless charging pad are standard on the GLC 300. The optional Exclusive package adds genuine leather upholstery and a 15-speaker Burmester 3D audio system. Rear passenger dimensions are slightly above the segment average for headroom and legroom, though cargo capacity falls short of several class rivals.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- GLC 350e delivers 54 miles of electric-only range, the best in segment.
- Five distinct powertrains span from 255 hp mild hybrid to 671 hp plug-in AMG.
- Cabin material quality and fit are consistently above the class average.
Cons
- MB Navigation is a paid option on the GLC 300.
- No complimentary maintenance, while BMW and Genesis include it.
- 3,500-lb tow rating is 500 lbs less than the Audi Q5's maximum.
Verdict
The 2025 GLC's primary strengths are interior quality and an unusually wide powertrain range that no other compact luxury SUV currently offers, from mild hybrid to plug-in AMG, in addition to a choice of SUV and Coupe body styles. The GLC 350e makes a compelling case for buyers who charge regularly at home, combining a 54-mile electric range with standard self-leveling rear air suspension and Mercedes-Benz Navigation. Against the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Genesis GV70, the GLC concedes on cargo volume, warranty terms, and towing.
