Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Gets A Wine-Inspired Sonderwunsch Makeover
The ChromaFlair Craze
Back in the '90s and early-'00s, ChromaFlair paint was quite the rage. It was applied to concept cars, while Ford and TVR went ham with it back then. Those old enough to remember will point out the 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra in Mystic, of which just 1,999 were made. It was followed up by the 2004 SVT Cobra, by then dubbed Mystichrome. If that wasn't enough, even Ford Australia applied it on a special edition of the 2006 Falcon with a color called Menace.
We can't mention ChromaFlair without TVR, of course. If anything, most of its color palette in the 2000s consisted of that color-shifting paint. The Reflex line blended several color combinations that changed depending on the angle from which you viewed the car. Crazy colors for a car company that's best known for being unhinged.
The aftermarket scene also embraced the special paint blend. If you take a look at show car builds from about 20 years ago, you'll know exactly what we're talking about. From the import tuner scene in the U.S. to Australia's 'Sex Spec' crowd, primarily in Sydney, it was impossible not to see at least one car draped in ChromaFlair.
A (Color) Shifty GT3 Touring
Fast forward to 2026, and that color is back - well, sort of. Also, it's not Ford or TVR (long gone since the late '00s) offering the unique paint. Instead, it's Porsche, and it's applied a very special one-off GT3 Touring via the Sonderwunsch program. Dubbed 'Tree of Life,' it was built for one of Moldova's biggest wine producers.
With wine as the theme of the car, it's no surprise that it's a mix of violet and purple. That said, it doesn't change color at different angles, although that doesn't make the car look any less unique. It starts out as violet at the front, then transitions to a darker shade the further you move to the back.
Neat Details
The attention-grabbing color scheme is then complemented by graphics on the car's hood, roof, rear bumper, and doors. Its wheels are a nice touch, too, as they reflect the car's color change, with the fronts purple and the rears wine red. Even the wheel caps are unique to this car, featuring the Tree of Life logo.
Its interior is quite a sight to behold as well, if a little polarizing. Then again, it's made for a special customer, so it suits their tastes exactly. The cabin continues the purple-violet scheme on the seats, door trims, and dashboard, and more Tree of Life logos are embossed for a more individual feel. Even the air-con vents weren't spared, with each slat alternating between two colors and trimmed in leather.
The best part? If you take a closer look at the cabin, you won't see any paddle shifters in there. Yes, this Sonderwunsch is packing an honest-to-goodness six-speed manual. So, you might not agree with the paint and interior of this particular GT3 Touring, but you have to give props to the owner for specifying the stick shift.
