The Better Business Bureau in Columbus has served up its annual Torch Awards and the winners are ...

• Regional bank Synovus Financial Corp. in the large business category

• Accounting firm Robinson, Grimes & Company in the medium business category

Occupational Medicine of Columbus in the small business category

Silver Service Solutions for Seniors in the micro-small business category

The awards were part of the BBB’s annual meeting, which took place Monday at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. The local BBB office serves south and southwest Georgia and east Alabama.

“Each of these businesses have demonstrated a high regard for ethical behavior in our local and regional marketplace,” BBB President and Chief Executive Officer Leonard Crain said in an email synopsis of the awards program. “Honesty and integrity play a large role in the way that they and their employees do business.”

There were runner-ups in a couple of the Torch Award categories — Griffin and Griffin Towing in small business and McGuire’s Buildings in micro-small business.

Three receiving “honorable recognition” in the small business category were Daphne’s Bridal Boutique, McMullen Funeral Home, and Soyoung Salon & Spa.

Keynote speaker for the BBB’s annual meeting was George K.H. Schell, chief marketing counsel with the The Coca-Cola Co.
