Convergys, Malone Staffing recruiting in Columbus next week
Yet another area company is seeking workers, with Malone Staffing scheduled to be at the Columbus Career Center Tuesday for a recruiting event. Call center firm Convergys also will be at the center Wednesday searching for employees.
The staffing agency needs at least 20 employees for assembly line, production and warehouse positions in nearby LaGrange and West Point, Ga., said the Georgia Department of Labor, which operates the Columbus Career Center at 700 Veterans Parkway. Malone also has driver jobs that don’t require commercial licenses, or CDLs.
The recruiting event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with job candidates required to be at least 18 years old with a high school or GED. Prospects are urged to bring a resume for the jobs, with pay varying by experience and the particular position.
The labor department urges those interested in the Malone Staffing jobs, or any listings across the state, to visit its online site, www.employgeorgia.com, to create an account and upload a resume. That also will help speed up the interview process.
The Malone hiring follows recent efforts by Hostess Brands, Mando America, Borbet Alabama, Dairy Queen and the Cobb County Police Department to find workers from the Columbus area.
The city received a major boost last week from Cincinnati-based Convergys Corp., which unveiled plans to occupy the Road America call center facility at 1838 Victory Drive. Convergys has pledged to hire more than 450 workers in Columbus over the next 18 months, nearly double that of Road America at its peak.
Convergys held one “open house” at the Columbus Career Center on Wednesday and will be back there next Wednesday doing the same from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The company needs customer service representatives and some management positions. The firm said it offers “competitive wages” to include performance and other types of incentives. It also offers paid training and “robust benefits” that include medical and dental coverage and education tuition reimbursement.
