Michael Chalmers launches Spherion Staffing office on Broadway

Michael Chalmers, a franchise owner with Spherion Staffing Services, has opened a new office in Columbus at 1002 Broadway. He will manage and operate the location.

“For more than six years, we’ve connected local companies and talented candidates to fill jobs and help fuel the economy in Macon,” Chalmers said in a statement. “I’m excited to continue that trajectory and expand our offerings with the opening of our new office in Columbus. We’re looking forward to meeting and partnering with community organizations and businesses to put local people to work.”

Randstad, the parent company of Spherion, previously operated the Columbus office until the late May transition to Chalmers as an independent, franchise-owned business. Chalmers and his team will focus on helping businesses find manufacturing, call center and professional candidates that meet their workforce needs, the company said. He will also continue to own and operate Spherion’s Middle Georgia office in Macon, locations in Huntsville, Ala., and another new office in LaGrange, Ga.

Chalmers has 10 years of staffing industry experience, including six as a franchise owner. A former Spherion employee, Chalmers assumed his ownership role in 2010 and has since expanded his team to include 18 staffing and recruiting experts.

Earlier this year, he was awarded Spherion’s annual Sales Excellence and Best of Blue awards for outstanding revenue performance in 2015. Last year, Chalmers and his staffing team expanded combined revenue by nearly 55 percent within Spherion’s Middle Georgia and Huntsville offices, the company said.
