Columbus attorney Amy Walters elected to board of State Bar of Georgia
Amy C. Walters of Hagler Jackson & Walters in Columbus was elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 48,000-member State Bar of Georgia. She was installed in mid-June during the organization’s annual meeting.
Walters will serve in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, Post 1 seat on the board. She earned her law degree from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2004. Her law practice is focused on child protection and advocacy and family law matters.
The Board of Governors is the 160-member policy-making authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. The board holds regular meetings at least four times per year.
The State Bar of Georgia, with offices in Atlanta, Savannah and Tifton, was established in 1964 by Georgia’s Supreme Court as the successor to the voluntary Georgia Bar Association, which was founded in 1884.
