Lee County has 16 confirmed coronavirus cases. Here’s a breakdown of Alabama’s totals

Lee County, Alabama, has 16 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Sunday afternoon, four new cases from Saturday’s count.

State health officials report there are now 157 confirmed cases statewide and no deaths related to the coronavirus.

The state reports 1,602 COVID-19 tests have been conducted by state and private labs as of Sunday morning. However, private labs are not required to report negative tests — meaning it’s possible that the actual number of tests conducted could be greater.

“Commerical labs ... aren’t obligated to report their negatives to us,” said Dr. Karen Landers of Alabama Public Health. “Some commercial labs will only (report) their positives. ...Some labs only have the ability to give one piece of data.”
