Coronavirus

Several Coast Waffle House locations that closed due to coronavirus are re-opening. Here’s a list.

Six Waffle House locations on the Mississippi Gulf Coast will be re-opening next week, according to their store locator.

On April 7 at midnight, the locations below will be re-opening after Coronavirus forced the Georgia-based chain to close over 400 restaurants:

  • 618 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi
  • 1938 Beach Boulevard, Biloxi
  • 4324 West Beach Boulevard, Gulfport
  • 9282 Canal Road, Gulfport
  • 7200 Tanner Lane, Moss Point
  • 1002 Highway 90, Bay St. Louis

Waffle House’s social media pages first started announcing how many stores were closed using the hashtag #WaffleHouseIndexRed. The initial post got over 1,000 retweets on Twitter and over 7,000 shares on Facebook.

Although many Waffle House spots on the Coast are near the water, many of them don’t close during severe weather, including some hurricanes. Government agencies even use the Waffle House Index when tracking emergencies.

The Waffle House location across from the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, one of the busiest in the nation, remains open for to-go orders.

The remaining Waffle House locations are urging customers to call ahead to place to-go orders to limit the amount of time spent in the restaurant.
