Muscogee County No. 15 in state for total coronavirus cases. Here’s a breakdown of our area

Muscogee County and its surrounding areas have 885 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, as of the 7 p.m. Monday update from Georgia’s Department of Public Health. That’s an increase of 38 cases since noon Monday.

Muscogee County now reports 167 confirmed cases following the state’s noon update. No new deaths have been reported since 7 p.m. Saturday.

Muscogee also ranks No. 15 statewide for total coronavirus cases. Sumter County is the only other local county that ranks higher (No. 10) with 251 total cases.

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.

Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
