76th Annual Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition rescheduled for July

The Miss Georgia competition will now be held on July 22-25 in Columbus, according to their website. The competition will be held at the Rivercenter in downtown Columbus and is sponsored by numerous local businesses, such as Aflac, Wicked Hen Restaurant and Epic.

The competition is held annually in Georgia and the winner moves on represent the state in the Miss America competition.

City of Columbus to reinstate yard waste collection services

According to a press release from the city, yard waste collection services will resume on April 27. The service was halted due to COVID-19 in March.

On April 27, the city will resume picking up yard waste on the regularly scheduled day. Regular garbage collection is unaffected.

Recycling, however, will remain suspended until further notice.
