More than 2,480 total coronavirus cases reported in Columbus and surrounding counties
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 2,486 coronavirus cases in the 1 p.m. Friday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
131 total deaths were reported in the area.
Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:

- Sumter: 469, 42, 131
- Troup: 287, 10, 67
- Crisp: 225, 7, 37
- Randolph: 179, 19, 32
- Dooly: 179, 12, 36
- Macon: 100, 6, 34
- Harris: 89, 5, 15
- Meriwether: 83, 2, 12
- Marion: 54, 2, 9
- Stewart: 51, 1, 14
- Talbot: 38, 1, 13
- Chattahoochee: 38, 0, 6
Clay: 37, 2, 5
- Taylor: 23, 2, 8
- Schley: 16, 1, 7
- Quitman: 12, 1, 4
- Webster: 12, 1, 4

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
Alabama
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 16,823 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 3:45 p.m. EST Friday.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 535 while Russell County’s total stands at 161.
There have been 208,883 tests performed statewide. The state reported 605 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Friday and 1,800 hospitalizations.
The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On Friday, the state reported 9,355 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.
