COVID-19 numbers in the area for June 8
GEORGIA
Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 3,156 coronavirus cases in the 3 p.m. Monday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.
145 total deaths were reported in the area.
Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:

- Sumter: 496, 46, 139
- Troup: 446, 11, 91
- Crisp: 239, 8, 39
- Dooly: 191, 12, 38
- Randolph: 183, 19, 33
- Chattahoochee: 173, 0, 6
- Harris: 130, 6, 16
- Macon: 106, 7, 36
- Meriwether: 109, 2, 18
- Marion: 59, 2, 11
- Stewart: 57, 1, 13
- Clay: 49, 2, 5
- Talbot: 41, 2, 13
- Taylor: 23, 2, 10
- Schley: 18, 1, 7
- Quitman: 14, 1, 4
- Webster: 14, 1, 4

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.
Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.
ALABAMA
The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 20,590 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 3:30 p.m. EST Monday.
The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 594 while Russell County’s total stands at 212.
There have been 259,232 tests performed statewide. The state reported 714 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Monday.
The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On June 3, the state reported 11,395 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.
