Georgia reports almost 600 new cases Monday. Here’s how the numbers changed over 24 hours

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported nearly 52,500 COVID-19 cases in its 3 p.m. update Monday.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • Cases: 52,497 (+599 new cases in 24 hours).

  • Deaths: 2,208 (+28 deaths in 24 hours).

  • Current hospitalizations: 819. That’s an increase of 36 patients in 24 hours.
  • Tests: 649,384. This number includes 105,013 antibody tests and 544,371 viral tests. However, these totals do not account for tests that are not reported through the state’s electronic lab reporting system.

  • Muscogee County reported 808 cases Monday (+32 cases in 24 hours). Bibb County reported 509 cases (+6) Monday. Fulton County (4,887) reports the highest number of cases in the state.

  • Cases per person: Echols (3678.51), Randolph (2709.51), Terrell (2562.89), Early (2454.17) and Hancock (2428.9) counties have the highest number of coronavirus cases per person in the state.

  • The health department is not reporting how many Georgians have recovered.
