Parks facilities reopen

Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson announced the city will reopen playgrounds and restrictions on recreational fields will be relaxed in a Friday press release.

The changes come after Gov. Brian Kemp on Thursday eased more coronavirus restrictions with a new executive order.

According to the mayor’s release, the fields are now open, but “any organized activities must submit plans to ensure adherence to the Governor’s requirements for amateur sports to the Parks and Recreation Department and receive approval.”

Those intending to use the fields or courts for an organized activity must email an outline of their plans to observe the requirements in the governor’s order to CRevell@columbusga.org. The specific details of the June 11 order can be found here.

Indoor facilities, including the natatorium, will remain closed for now, the release says.
