Georgia reported more than 800 COVID-19 cases Friday. Here are the 24 hour trends.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reported nearly 56,000 cumulative COVID-19 cases in its 3 p.m. update Friday.

Here are some key takeaways:

  • Cases: 55,783 (+810 cases in 24 hours).

  • Deaths: 2,418 (+43 deaths in 24 hours).

  • Current hospitalizations: 836 (-6 in 24 hours.) These totals do not include patients who are being investigated for possible infection by health officials.
  • Tests: 697,251. This number includes 110,825 antibody tests and 586,426 viral tests (+7,493 viral tests in 24 hours.) However, these totals do not account for tests that are not reported through the state’s electronic lab reporting system.

  • Muscogee County reported 955 cases Friday (+36 cases in 24 hours). Cases in Muscogee County continue to rise. The county reported 60 new cases in 24 hours Tuesday. That remains the largest single-day increase to date.

  • Chattahoochee County reported 246 COVID-19 cases Friday, an increase of 14 from Thursday. Cases here continue to rise. There were only 39 confirmed infections May 29, according to data from the Georgia Department of Public Health. Chattahoochee ranks in the top ten for cases per person in the state.

  • Bibb County reported 530 cases (+5) Friday. Cases in Houston, Jones, Peach and Monroe counties increased slightly. But there were not any large increases.

  • Gwinnett County (5,089) reports the highest number of cases in the state.

  • Cases per person: Echols (3854.88), Randolph (2813.15), Terrell (2574.7), Early (2503.45) and Hancock (2453.31) counties have the highest number of coronavirus cases per person in the state.

  • The health department is not reporting how many Georgians have recovered.
