Muscogee County and surrounding areas report over 4,600 total coronavirus cases Monday

Here are the updated COVID-19 numbers for our area for June 22.

GEORGIA

Muscogee County and its surrounding areas reported a total of 4,615 cases in the 3 p.m. Monday update from the Georgia Department of Public Health.

This is an increase of 669 cases since last Monday.

190 total deaths were reported in the area.

Here’s a breakdown by county of total cases, deaths and hospitalizations:

  • Muscogee: 1213, 34, 193
  • Troup: 1027, 28, 113

  • Sumter: 536, 49, 144

  • Chattahoochee: 317, 1, 8

  • Crisp: 258, 11, 42

  • Harris: 252, 8, 30

  • Dooly: 194, 12, 41

  • Randolph: 195, 23, 36

  • Meriwether: 154, 2, 21

  • Macon: 112, 9, 36

  • Stewart: 84, 1, 15

  • Marion: 75, 3, 12

  • Clay: 56, 2, 5

  • Talbot: 62, 2, 14

  • Taylor: 26, 2, 10

  • Schley: 22, 1, 7

  • Webster: 17, 1, 5

  • Quitman: 15, 1, 5

Georgia’s West-Central Health District covers 16 counties: Chattahoochee, Clay, Crisp, Dooly, Harris, Macon, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Randolph, Schley, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taylor and Webster.

Troup and Meriwether counties are not in the West-Central Health District but because of their proximity to Columbus, the Ledger-Enquirer will track those numbers as well.

ALABAMA

The number of novel coronavirus cases in Alabama has now reached 30,031 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard at 3:30 p.m. EST Monday.

The number of reported cases in Lee County stands at 815 while Russell County’s total stands at 366.

There have been 348,678 tests performed statewide. The state reported 831 total COVID-19-related deaths as of Monday.

The state of Alabama now reports the number of presumed recoveries from COVID-19 on a weekly basis. On June 22 the state reported 15,974 presumed recoveries throughout Alabama.
