Miss going to the movie theater? Walmart is turning its parking lots into drive-ins
If you’re chomping at the bit to get back to the movie theater, you’re not alone.
The coronavirus pandemic left theaters across the country closed, movie releases rolled back and popcorn uneaten. But there’s good news: Walmart is teaming up with Tribeca to bring drive-in theaters to Walmart parking lots across the country..
“The Tribeca Drive-In is much more than a fun, retro way to see movies — it’s one of the safest ways for communities to gather,” Tribeca Enterprises CEO Jane Rosenthal said in a news release. “We are thrilled to partner with Walmart to bring more people together around the shared cinematic experiences that Tribeca is known for.”
From August to October, Walmart will turn 160 of its parking lots into contactless drive-in movie theaters, for a combined 320 family-friendly showings.
Evenings at the drive-in will include movies, celebrity and filmmaker appearances and, in true drive-in fashion, concessions — except now they’ll be delivered straight to your car, Walmart said.
You’ll be able to order all your drive-in treats online for curbside pickup ahead of the show, the company said.
Walmart hasn’t said which locations will host drive-ins or what movies will be showing, but it will announce details closer to the start of the tour at walmartdrive-in.com.
